The Ashtabula County Choral Music Society invites singers from throughout the Ashtabula
County area to gather to rehearse and perform selections from Handel’s Messiah. The
performance is scheduled for Saturday, March 9 at Lakeside Performing Arts Center with guest artist Jared Jacobsen at the organ and under the direction of Kathleen Riley Milford. The event is dedicated to the rich choral heritage and tradition of the Messiah Chorus, which performed Handel’s masterpiece (and the most popular choral work of all time!) annually for area audiences for many years in the middle of the 20th century, and which served as the parent organization of ACCMS. A reunion of all who have sung the Messiah with Messiah Chorus or ACCMS are particularly encouraged, and any who have sung it elsewhere and/or have some choral singing experience and wish to learn this music for the first time are welcome. A variety of rehearsal times are planned to provide opportunity for all who are interested to be part of this “2019 Messiah Chorus”. ACCMS Chorale will rehearse in Mondays 6:30-8:30 pm at the Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dibble Road, Kingsville and prepare nine Messiah choruses. Three Sunday rehearsals (February 10, 17, 24; 2:00-4:00 pm) are scheduled for “Reunion Singers” to prepare to sing at least four choruses with the Chorale and any remaining singers are welcome to join one rehearsal on concert day (3/9 at Lakeside Performing Arts Center) at 2:30 to prepare to join others in singing “Hallelujah!” and “Worthy is the Lamb/Amen”.
Singers may register for participation at rehearsals. For more information search/message
