Pipes, Voices, Keys....
                    a weekend with Jared Jacobson

Pipes…an Organ Recital will be presented on Friday, April 13 at 7:00 pm.  Mr. Jacobsen will perform an entertaining program of organ repertoire selected specifically for the Ashtabula area audience and the Memorial Kimball organ accompanied by his delightful commentary about the music. Local organ enthusiasts are being invited to participate with him on the program.   
Voices… a Song of Democracy/A Celebration of American Music will take place on Saturday, April 14.  Singers from throughout the area will begin rehearsals at 2:00 pm and before the afternoon is over nearly one hundred voices of the Combined Choirs will have rehearsed together to perform Howard Hanson’s Song of Democracy in concert.  Participating choirs include the ACCMS Chorale directed by Kathleen Riley Milford; the Stambaugh Chorus directed by Dr. Hae-Jong Lee; the Geneva High School Choir directed by Michelle Mather; and special guest Festival Singers.  All are welcome to join the Festival Singers for this one-day commitment, especially: 1) area singers (over age 17); 2) former ACCMS singers (Chorale, Children, Youth); 3) members of Jared’s Chautauqua Choir; and 4) friends of singing throughout NE Ohio and NW Pennsylvania.   In order that music can be prepared for each participant, interested singers are asked to complete the “Sign-up” form found on the ACCMS website Home page:  The public concert will begin at 7:00 pm.     

Keys…Two Piano Recitals, the final event of the weekend, is scheduled for Sunday, April 15.  Thirtyseven students of from the piano studios of area teachers Alix Hill (Ashtabula), Natella Askerova (Ashtabula Arts Center and Shaker Heights), and Sherry Martin (Jefferson) will perform at 1:30 pm.  Students of Sharan Huskey (Conneaut) will begin performing at 2:45 pm. Mr. Jacobsen will listen to each student perform and offer encouragement and insight to techniques and stylistic practices that may bring inspiration and additional performance success.
